Healing Paws at McNab Wellness!

Hello, world!

My name is Eddings and I'm a young Border Collie mix with a heart full of dreams and paws eager to explore. Recently, my life took an exciting turn when I was adopted from the Joplin Humane Society. I've found a loving home, and now I'm on a mission to become more than just a pet—I aspire to be a certified therapy dog at McNab Wellness!

A New Beginning

My journey began in the bustling Joplin Humane Society. I remember the mixed feelings of hope and uncertainty as I watched potential families walk by. Then, one sunny afternoon, my forever family walked in, and it was love at first sight. I knew my life was about to change. I was now a 'McNab' Border Collie!

Settling Into My New Home

Adjusting to my new home was a breeze. I quickly learned the house rules, discovered my favorite spot on the couch, and even made friends with Scalzi, the cat (well, sort of) and my new sis, Wheaton. Rothfuss the Sage, has been busy teaching me the nuances of Border Collie manners. I've always been a quick learner, thanks to my Border Collie genes.

Why Therapy Dog?

One day, Elizabeth, my favorite human, mentioned therapy dogs and how they help people in hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. The idea instantly resonated with me. I've always enjoyed making people smile and feel loved, and becoming a therapy dog seemed like the perfect way to spread joy. I am excited to be part of the wellness team!

Training and Preparation

To become a certified therapy dog, I've started training, it's about more than just being friendly—I need to be calm, obedient, and able to handle various environments and situations. I'm learning new commands, practicing being around different people, and getting accustomed to unfamiliar noises and smells.

Making Progress

Every day, I'm getting closer to my goal. I've mastered 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'come,' and I'm working on more advanced skills like 'leave it' and 'heel.' My family is incredibly supportive, and we often visit new places to help me adapt to different environments. I have been practicing my manners at the Joplin Greenhouse & The Coffee Shop! So you if see me there, stop, say hi, and ask for a paw to shake. Oh, I would also adore a good therapeutic belly rub!

Dreams of Making a Difference

I dream of the day when I can walk into a room and bring comfort to those who need it. Whether it's a child in a hospital or an elderly person in a nursing home, I want to be there, offering a wagging tail and a warm nuzzle.

Reflecting on My Journey

As I reflect on my journey from the Joplin Humane Society to my loving home, I'm filled with gratitude. I've come a long way, but I know the best is yet to come. With each step, I'm not just chasing a dream—I'm chasing the chance to make a difference, one paw at a time.

Stay tuned for more updates on my journey to becoming a certified therapy dog. Remember, every dog has its day, and I'm just getting started!
